Youssou N’Dour is a Senegalese singer from Dakar. He is a singer, songwriter, composer, actor, businessman, and politician. In 1979, he formed an ensemble, the Etoile de Dakar, later changing the name to The In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine described him as, “perhaps the most famous singer alive” in Senegal and much of Africa.
