Madam C.J. Walker was an entrepreneur, philanthropist, social activist and self made millionaire. She founded the Madam C.J. Walker Manufacturing Company in 1910, the company was dedicated to developing beauty products for black women. Madam C.J. Walker made her fortune by developing and marketing these beauty products to black women across the nation. She was born in December of 1867 and died in May of 1919. At the time of her death Madam C.J. Walker was considered to be the wealthiest African American businesswoman in America.
