Huey P. Newton was a co founder of the Black Panther party along with Bobby Seale, in 1966. Originally from Monroe Louisiana, Huey’s parents eventually moved to Oakland California. Huey was illiterate when he graduated from High School, but later self educated himself before attending Lake Merritt College in Oakland.
