Angela Davis was born in Birmingham Alabama in 1944. She lived in an area known as Dynamite Hill, the area had a large number of African Americans. The name Dynamite Hill was a nickname based on a series of bombings that the Klu Klux Klan conducted in an effort to intimidate African Americans from moving to the area. Davis was an activist, educator and author with over 8 books to her credit. She was a longtime member of the Communist Party USA and an associate of the Black Panther Party.
